THE STUDIO

The studio houses a collection of countless remnants and debris, an assortment of detritus from an age past, purposefully arranged in adjacent containers, some stacked and some prominently displayed, to arouse all the senses and pique creativity for those moments of pure inspiration to build.

The idea of devolving fully functional items to their base parts (metals, plastics, and rubber), then combining those pieces together using screws, force, and glue in an artistic way is not entirely new. There are some artists who create using the medium of found objects. Some have used the technique of “kit bashing” to combine scale model box kits to create. Some artists take things apart and then use all the same pieces to create known facsimiles of popular things. However, my created assemblages come together in a different way. Metals, plastics, rubber, and various materials are scattered together onto a palette. Using screws, force, and glue they begin to form assemblages without plan or blueprint. Parts and pieces come together with precise symmetry and seamless integration to create something never before seen. Something impossible to replicate. Something that is evolving.
